LIC Bima Plans guide showing current and withdrawn policy families, plan version checks and calculator support

LIC has launched many policies with the word “Bima” in their names. These policies may sound similar, but their benefits can be very different. Some provide life cover and savings, some pay money-back benefits, and some provide only life protection. Older products may also use a policy account or a market-linked fund.

The same plan can have more than one version. For example, Bima Shree has been sold under different plan numbers and UINs. An old version and a new version may have different rules. Therefore, checking only the policy name is not enough.

This guide explains the main individual LIC plans whose core names start with “Bima”. It covers current plans and important withdrawn plans. It also explains how to find the correct policy version before using the LIC Bima Calculator All Plans.

What Are LIC Bima Plans?

“Bima” means insurance. However, LIC Bima plans are not one official group with the same benefits or rules. The word has been used in the names of many different products.

Depending on the plan, a policy may provide:

  • Life cover
  • Maturity benefit
  • Survival or money-back payments
  • Guaranteed Additions
  • Bonus or Loyalty Addition
  • A policy-account value
  • A market-linked fund value

A term plan mainly provides life protection. A money-back plan pays part of the benefit during the policy term. A unit-linked plan uses units and Net Asset Value, or NAV, to calculate the fund value. These plans cannot be calculated with one common formula.

Some Bima plans are available for purchase, while many old versions have been withdrawn. A withdrawn plan is closed to new buyers. An existing policy normally continues under the rules printed in its policy document.

Current LIC Bima Plans

Current LIC Bima plans showing Bima Jyoti Plan 760, Bima Lakshmi Plan 881, Bima Shree Plan 748 and Bima Kavach Plan 887

LIC’s official product pages showed four current core Bima plans when this guide was checked.

PlanPlan number and UINMain type
Bima JyotiPlan 760, UIN 512N339V03Savings and protection
Bima LakshmiPlan 881, UIN 512N389V01Savings plan for female lives
Bima ShreePlan 748, UIN 512N316V03Money-back plan
Bima KavachPlan 887, UIN 512N360V01Term insurance

Plan availability can change. The current status should always be checked on LIC’s website before applying.

LIC Bima Jyoti

The current Bima Jyoti is Plan 760 with UIN 512N339V03. It is a non-linked savings and protection plan. It provides Guaranteed Additions according to the policy rules, a maturity benefit on survival and a death benefit during the policy term.

Older Bima Jyoti policies used Plan 860. These include UIN 512N339V01 and UIN 512N339V02. Both are withdrawn versions. Their conditions should not be mixed with the rules of Plan 760.

LIC Bima Lakshmi

LIC Bima Lakshmi is Plan 881 with UIN 512N389V01. It is designed for female lives and combines savings with life protection. The plan provides Guaranteed Additions and survival benefits according to the option selected in the policy.

This is a life insurance policy, not a normal savings account. Premiums must be paid as required, and every benefit is subject to the policy conditions.

LIC Bima Shree

The current Bima Shree is Plan 748 with UIN 512N316V03. It is a money-back plan made for people who need a high amount of life cover. It provides survival benefits at fixed stages and the remaining maturity benefit at the end of the term.

Older versions include:

  • Plan 848, UIN 512N316V01
  • Plan 948, UIN 512N316V02

These versions are withdrawn. The plan number and UIN must be checked before calculating survival or maturity benefits.

LIC Bima Kavach

LIC Bima Kavach is Plan 887 with UIN 512N360V01. It is a term insurance plan. Its main purpose is to provide life cover, not to build savings.

The death benefit and premium payment options depend on the policy option selected. A pure-risk term option should not be expected to provide a maturity value like Bima Jyoti or Bima Shree.

Withdrawn LIC Bima Plans

Withdrawn LIC Bima plans including Bima Ratna, Bima Bachat, Bima Nivesh, Bima Gold, Bima Kiran, Bima Account, Bima Plus and Bima Diamond

The plans below are not open for new purchase. Their information is useful for existing policyholders, nominees and people checking old policy records.

Bima Ratna

The Bima Ratna family includes:

  • Plan 864, UIN 512N345V01
  • Plan 764, UIN 512N345V02

Both versions are withdrawn. Bima Ratna provided limited premium payment, survival benefits, maturity benefit, life cover and Guaranteed Additions under its rules.

Plan 864 did not automatically change into Plan 764. An old policy continues under the version shown on its policy bond.

Bima Bachat

The Bima Bachat family includes:

  • Bima Bachat Plan 175, UIN 512N232V01
  • New Bima Bachat Plan 816, UIN 512N284V01
  • New Bima Bachat Plan 916, UIN 512N284V02

These were single-premium money-back policies. Only one premium was paid at the start. Survival benefits were payable at fixed stages when the policy conditions were met. A maturity benefit was payable at the end of the term, and life cover applied during the term.

The three versions should not be used in place of one another.

Bima Nivesh

The Bima Nivesh name was used for several old savings plans:

  • Bima Nivesh 2001, UIN 512N202V01
  • New Bima Nivesh, UIN 512N203V01
  • Bima Nivesh Triple Cover, UIN 512N210V01
  • Bima Nivesh 2002, UIN 512N214V01
  • Bima Nivesh 2004, UIN 512N223V01
  • Bima Nivesh 2005, UIN 512N229V01

These versions are commonly mapped to legacy plan numbers 141, 142, 143, 158, 166 and 171. However, LIC’s online withdrawn-plan list leaves the plan-number field blank for some old products. The plan number should therefore be confirmed from the original policy bond instead of relying only on an online list.

Each version has its own premium, cover, maturity and addition rules.

Bima Gold

The Bima Gold family includes:

  • Bima Gold Plan 174, UIN 512N231V01
  • New Bima Gold Plan 179, UIN 512N236V01

Both are withdrawn money-back plans. They provided life cover, survival payments and a benefit at the end of the policy term.

The word “New” does not mean an old Bima Gold policy was automatically changed. Each policy follows the rules that applied when it was issued.

Bima Kiran

Bima Kiran Plan 111 and New Bima Kiran Plan 150 are two different old policies. LIC’s withdrawn list confirms New Bima Kiran with UIN 512N207V01, but it does not show the plan number in the online table. The policy bond should be used to confirm the exact plan.

These plans should not be confused with LIC Jeevan Kiran Plan 870. Jeevan Kiran is a separate product with different rules.

Bima Account-I and Bima Account-II

LIC issued:

  • Bima Account-I Plan 805, UIN 512N263V01
  • Bima Account-II Plan 806, UIN 512N264V01

Both plans are withdrawn. They used a policy-account system. Premium amounts, charges and credits affected the policy account according to the plan rules.

A normal formula such as Basic Sum Assured plus bonus cannot give a correct account value. The latest LIC statement is the best starting point for an estimate.

Bima Plus

LIC Bima Plus, UIN 512L201V01, was a unit-linked insurance plan. The letter “L” in the UIN shows that it was a linked product.

Its value depended on the number of units held and the NAV for the relevant date. Charges, fund switches, premium history and withdrawals could also affect the final value.

Bima Diamond

LIC Bima Diamond was Plan 841 with UIN 512N307V01. It was a money-back plan and is now withdrawn.

The plan provided life cover, survival benefits and a maturity benefit. Earlier money-back payments should not be added again to the full Basic Sum Assured unless the policy rules clearly allow it.

How to Find the Correct LIC Bima Plan

Steps to identify the correct LIC Bima plan by checking policy name, plan number, UIN, start date, policy term, premium paying term and Basic Sum Assured

Do not select a policy only by its name. Check the following details on the policy bond:

  1. Full policy name
  2. Plan number
  3. UIN
  4. Policy start date
  5. Policy term
  6. Premium Paying Term
  7. Basic Sum Assured

For example, New Bima Bachat Plan 816 and Plan 916 have similar names. Their UINs are different, so they must be treated as separate versions.

The plan number and UIN may also be available on a premium receipt, LIC portal record or statement from the servicing branch.

What Is the LIC Bima All Plans Calculator?

The LIC Bima All Plans Calculator is a combined tool for current and withdrawn Bima policies. It changes its fields and calculation method after a policy version is selected.

The calculator supports 28 plan and UIN selections. These include Bima Kiran, Bima Nivesh, Bima Gold, Bima Bachat, Bima Plus, Bima Account, Bima Diamond, Bima Shree, Bima Jyoti, Bima Ratna, Bima Lakshmi and Bima Kavach. Saral Jeevan Bima Plan 859 is also included as an extra selection.

Only selections with a confirmed policy name, plan number or UIN are included. This helps prevent an unverified product entry from giving a wrong result.

The calculator is made for education and estimation. It is not LIC’s official quotation, account statement or claim system. Final amounts depend on the policy bond, premiums received by LIC, declared additions, policy status, surrender factors, loans, NAV and claim rules.

Use the LIC Bima All Plans Calculator

Always match the calculator entry with the policy bond. Similar names are not enough.

How to Use the LIC Bima Calculator

LIC Bima Calculator methods for premium-return plans, money-back plans, Guaranteed Additions, Bima Plus fund value and Bima Account estimate

First, select the plan number and UIN shown on the policy document. Then enter the age at entry, policy term, Premium Paying Term, Basic Sum Assured and premium details requested by the calculator.

Enter only the basic premium unless a field asks for another amount. Do not include GST, rider premium or underwriting extra in the basic premium field.

For an old regular premium policy, enter the number of full premium years paid. If the plan has different benefit options, choose the option printed in the policy schedule.

For Bima Plus, enter the current units held and the NAV for the selected date. For Bima Account-I or Bima Account-II, enter the latest account balance from the LIC statement and its date. Enter a bonus or Loyalty Addition only when LIC has confirmed the applicable amount or rate.

Select Calculate to see the estimate. Use Reset to clear all entries.

Main Formulas Used in the Calculator

There is no single formula for every LIC Bima plan. The calculator must use the rules of the selected version.

Premium-return plans

For a plan that returns eligible premiums at maturity:

Estimated Maturity Benefit
= Eligible Premiums Paid
+ Confirmed Loyalty Addition, if applicable

A Loyalty Addition should be added only when the applicable amount is known. It is not a fixed benefit for every policy.

Money-back plans

Survival Benefit
= Basic Sum Assured × Applicable Survival Percentage

The maturity calculation should use only the remaining maturity share under that plan. Earlier survival benefits should remain separate so that they are not counted twice.

Guaranteed Additions

When an addition is given for every ₹1,000 of Sum Assured:

Guaranteed Addition
= (Basic Sum Assured ÷ 1,000)
× Addition Rate
× Eligible Years

The rate and eligible years depend on the selected policy version.

Bima Plus fund value

When the current unit balance is available:

Estimated Fund Value
= Current Units Held × Applicable NAV

Do not subtract an old withdrawal again when it has already reduced the current unit balance. Missing charges, switches or transactions can make the actual value different.

Bima Account value

The simplest estimate is:

Estimated Account Value
= Latest Official Account Balance

If the calculator starts from an older balance, use only transactions that happened after that balance date:

Updated Account Estimate
= Opening Account Balance
+ Later Credits
− Later Charges
− Later Withdrawals

Transactions already included in the entered balance must not be added or deducted again.

Some traditional regular premium policies use a paid-up ratio:

Paid-Up Ratio
= Completed Premium-Paying Period
÷ Original Premium-Paying Term

The ratio must be applied only to the benefit named in the selected policy document. Paid-up rules can differ by plan. This simple formula should not be applied to Bima Plus, Bima Account or another plan unless its own policy terms allow it.

Surrender value

Surrender value depends on the plan, premiums paid, policy year and applicable Guaranteed Surrender Value or Special Surrender Value rules. A calculator can provide an estimate, but only LIC can confirm the payable amount.

Illustrative New Bima Kiran Calculation

This is a simple example using assumed values. It is not an official LIC quotation or claim calculation.

Assume a New Bima Kiran Plan 150 policy has:

  • Basic Sum Assured: ₹5,00,000
  • Policy term: 20 years
  • Eligible annual premium: ₹12,000
  • Full premiums paid: 20 years
  • Confirmed Loyalty Addition entered for this example: ₹30,000
Total Eligible Premiums Paid
= ₹12,000 × 20
= ₹2,40,000
Estimated Maturity Benefit
= ₹2,40,000 + ₹30,000
= ₹2,70,000

During the original policy term, the example death benefit is:

₹5,00,000 Basic Sum Assured
+ ₹30,000 Loyalty Addition
= ₹5,30,000

For New Bima Kiran, a 20-year term falls in the 20-to-24-year extended-cover band:

Extended Cover
= ₹5,00,000 × 40%
= ₹2,00,000

This extended cover may continue for ten years after maturity without another premium, subject to the policy remaining eligible under its original rules. The extended cover is not the same as the maturity payment.

The historical maturity definition for New Bima Kiran included eligible premiums and could include accident-benefit premium while excluding other extras. Actual figures should be taken from the policy records.

Current and Withdrawn Plans: What Is the Difference?

A current plan may be available for a new purchase. A withdrawn plan is closed to new buyers.

Withdrawal does not normally cancel a policy that LIC has already issued. The policy continues under its original terms as long as its conditions are met. Services such as premium payment, nomination, revival, surrender, loan or claim may remain available when allowed by that policy.

A revised version is a new contract version. It does not automatically change an older policy with the same name.

Important Points to Remember

  • Check the full name, plan number and UIN.
  • Do not mix the rules of two versions.
  • Bonus and Guaranteed Addition are not the same.
  • Do not enter an assumed Loyalty Addition as a confirmed amount.
  • Keep earlier survival benefits separate from maturity benefit.
  • Current ULIP units already reflect completed unit transactions.
  • Use the latest LIC statement for a policy-account plan.
  • Early surrender may return less than the premiums paid.
  • Calculator results are estimates, not official LIC payments.

Tax Rule

Eligible life insurance premiums may qualify for a deduction under Section 80C when the applicable tax regime and legal conditions allow it. Policy proceeds may qualify under Section 10(10D) when all required conditions are met.

Tax treatment can depend on the policy issue date, premium amount, Sum Assured, policy type and reason for payment. Do not assume that every LIC Bima payment is tax-free.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which LIC Bima plans are currently available?

As checked on 18 August 2026, the current core products were Bima Jyoti Plan 760, Bima Lakshmi Plan 881, Bima Shree Plan 748 and Bima Kavach Plan 887. Availability should be checked again before applying.

Are all LIC Bima plans money-back plans?

No. The list includes savings plans, money-back plans, term insurance, policy-account plans and unit-linked insurance. Their benefits are different.

Can an old withdrawn Bima policy continue?

Yes. An existing policy normally continues under its original terms. Premium and other policy conditions still apply.

Why can the same plan name have different plan numbers?

LIC may revise a product and issue a new version. The name may remain similar, but the plan number, UIN and rules can change. An old policy continues under its original version.

Are LIC Bima Calculator results guaranteed by LIC?

No. The results are estimates. LIC’s policy records, declared additions, transaction history, surrender factors, claim rules and official decision determine the final amount.

Conclusion

LIC Bima plans include many different types of insurance. Some provide savings, some pay money-back benefits, some give only life protection, and others use a policy account or market-linked units.

The most important step is to check the full policy name, plan number and UIN. This prevents the rules of a new version from being used for an old policy. After the correct version is found, the LIC Bima All Plans Calculator can provide a useful estimate.
