LIC Jeevan Shree is a family of five endowment policies: Plans 112, 151, 162, 911 and 912. What Is the LIC Jeevan Shree Calculator?

The LIC Jeevan Shree Calculator is an online tool for calculating benefits under five different Jeevan Shree policies. As per our selected plan calculator use the specific calculation formula.

For example, Plans 112 and 151 offer guaranteed additions for each policy year and may also receive loyalty additions. Plan 162 offers guaranteed additions for the first five years and a declared bonus starting in the sixth year. Plans 911 and 912 are non-participating policies that offer formula-based guaranteed additions, but no loyalty additions or reversionary bonuses.

The calculator can also break down the components of the final amount, making it easier to see how much comes from the basic sum assured, guaranteed additions, declared bonuses, loyalty additions, or eligible riders.

Calculator Highlights

The calculator changes its input fields as per our selected plan. This helps one policy’s formula from being applied to another policy with a similar name.

Guaranteed and non-guaranteed amounts are shown separately. An entered Loyalty Addition or bonus rate is treated as an estimate unless it has been confirmed in LIC’s records. For Plans 911 and 912, Guaranteed Additions are calculated from the plan’s fixed formula.

The calculator also supports various policy events. Maturity, natural death, accidental death with eligible riders, paid-up value, and surrender value can be checked separately. The year-wise schedule shows how additions occur during the policy term.

Plan 911 is a single-premium policy, so premium-paying term, premium years paid and paid-up value do not apply to it. These fields should remain hidden when Plan 911 is selected.

Information Required for Calculation

Start by selecting the correct plan number. Then enter the Basic Sum Assured, entry age, policy term and other required details requested for that plan.

The premium fields have different meanings:

  • Basic premium paid is the actual base premium from the policy schedule. Tax, rider premium, late fee and extra premium charged due to health or occupation should not be included.
  • Tabular Single Premium is the Plan 911 premium before rebates, extra premium, rider premium and tax. It is needed for the death-benefit formula.
  • Tabular Annual Premium is the annual premium before rebates, extra premium, rider premium and tax. It is used for Plan 912 calculations.

Only the premium field required by the selected plan should appear.

For an old participating policy, enter the Loyalty Addition or total vested bonus only when the amount or rate is known. An assumed rate can be used for illustration, but the result must be marked as an estimate.

Formulas Used in Jeevan Shree Plans Calculator

Jeevan Shree Plan 112

Plan 112 provides a Guaranteed Addition of ₹75 per ₹1,000 Basic Sum Assured for each eligible policy year.

Guaranteed Addition = (Basic Sum Assured ÷ 1,000) × ₹75 × Policy Term

Estimated Maturity Benefit = Basic Sum Assured + Guaranteed Addition + Applicable Loyalty Addition

The Loyalty Addition depends on the policy term and the rate declared for the year of maturity or claim. It should not be treated as a fixed rate for every policy.

New Jeevan Shree Plan 151

Plan 151 provides a Guaranteed Addition of ₹70 per ₹1,000 Basic Sum Assured at the end of each policy year.

Guaranteed Addition = (Basic Sum Assured ÷ 1,000) × ₹70 × Policy Term

Estimated Maturity Benefit = Basic Sum Assured + Guaranteed Addition + Applicable Loyalty Addition

The same Basic Sum Assured, accrued Guaranteed Additions and eligible Loyalty Addition are generally used for an in-force death claim. An additional Term Assurance or Accident Benefit amount is included only when that benefit was selected and remained active.

Jeevan Shree-I Plan 162

Plan 162 provides a Guaranteed Addition of ₹50 per ₹1,000 Basic Sum Assured for each completed year during the first five policy years.

Guaranteed Addition for the first five years = (Basic Sum Assured ÷ 1,000) × ₹50 × 5

From the sixth year, an in-force policy may receive Simple Reversionary Bonuses declared by LIC.

Estimated Maturity Benefit = Basic Sum Assured + Guaranteed Addition for the first five years + Vested Simple Reversionary Bonus + Any other addition confirmed by LIC

A bonus becomes part of the policy benefit after it has been declared and vested. A future assumed bonus rate is only a projection.

Plan 911 provides a Guaranteed Addition of ₹85 per ₹1,000 Basic Sum Assured at the end of each policy year.

Guaranteed Addition = (Basic Sum Assured ÷ 1,000) × ₹85 × Policy Term

Maturity Benefit = Basic Sum Assured + Accrued Guaranteed Additions

For death after life cover has started:

Option I Sum Assured on Death =
Higher of: 1.25 × Tabular Single Premium or Basic Sum Assured

Option II Sum Assured on Death = 10 × Tabular Single Premium

Death Benefit = Sum Assured on Death + Accrued Guaranteed Additions

For a child below eight years at entry, death before the start of life cover is handled under a separate return-of-premium rule. It should not be calculated with the normal death formula.

Plan 912 calculates Guaranteed Additions as a percentage of the total Tabular Annual Premium relating to premiums already paid.

Policy termBasic Guaranteed Addition rate
10 to 13 years8.50%
14 to 17 years9.00%
18 to 20 years9.50%

Guaranteed Addition for a policy year = Applicable GA Rate × Total Tabular Annual Premium relating to premiums paid

The applicable rate may include an eligible increase for high Sum Assured, online purchase or an eligible existing LIC policyholder. Any extra rate entered in the calculator must be come from the policy documents.

Maturity Benefit = Basic Sum Assured + Total Accrued Guaranteed Additions

For death after life cover has started:

Option I Sum Assured on Death =
Higher of: 7 × Tabular Annual Premium × Modal Adjustment Factor or Basic Sum Assured

Option II Sum Assured on Death =
Higher of: 10 × Tabular Annual Premium × Modal Adjustment Factor or Basic Sum Assured

The base death benefit under either option cannot be less than 105% of total base premiums paid up to the date of death. After this, the accumulated guaranteed addition is added.

LIC Jeevan Shree paid-up and surrender rules for Plans 112, 151, 162, 911 and 912 including Plan 911 surrender percentages and Plan 162 Guaranteed Surrender Value

The paid-up rules are not the same for all plans. There is no paid-up calculation for Plan 911 as only one premium is required. For Plan 912, after paying at least one full year’s premium, the policy can continue with reduced benefits and subsequent premiums are discontinued. Its paid-up sum assured is based largely on the portion of the premium paid over the entire term. Guaranteed Additions further follow the paid-up rules specified in the policy document.

For Plans 112, 151 and 162, paid-up values depend on the original policy conditions and premiums paid. The calculator should label these results as estimates unless all required policy details are available.

Surrender calculations also vary. Under Plan 911, the guaranteed surrender value for a single premium is 75% for the first three policy years and 90% thereafter. A separate surrender value is calculated for accumulated guaranteed additions using applicable factors. LIC provides a higher eligible value under its surrender rules.

Under Plan 162, the historical Guaranteed Surrender Value for a regular-premium policy is 30% of basic premiums paid, excluding the first policy year’s premium. For a single-premium policy, it is 90% of the single premium excluding extra premium. LIC may pay a higher Special Surrender Value.

Plans 112, 151 and 912 require their own applicable surrender factors. An official surrender quotation is necessary when these factors are not available. Outstanding loan, loan interest or other unpaid amounts may be deducted from the surrender or claim payment.

Calculation Example

We use following details in New Jeevan Shree Plan 151 calculation:

Policy detailValue
Entry age30 years
Basic Sum Assured₹5,00,000
Policy term25 years
Premium-paying term16 years
Yearly basic premium₹31,258

First calculate the annual Guaranteed Addition: ₹5,00,000 ÷ ₹1,000 × ₹70 = ₹35,000

Guaranteed Additions for 25 years: ₹35,000 × 25 = ₹8,75,000

Guaranteed maturity amount before Loyalty Addition: ₹5,00,000 + ₹8,75,000 = ₹13,75,000

Total scheduled basic premium: ₹31,258 × 16 = ₹5,00,128

Suppose ₹400 per ₹1,000 Basic Sum Assured is used only as an example Loyalty Addition rate: ₹5,00,000 ÷ ₹1,000 × ₹400 = ₹2,00,000

The estimated maturity value would then be: ₹13,75,000 + ₹2,00,000 = ₹15,75,000

The ₹400 rate is not guaranteed. It must be replaced with the Loyalty Addition rate declared for the actual plan, policy term and year of maturity.

Important Calculation Notes

The exact policy number must be selected before entering other details. Similar plan names do not mean that their formulas are the same.

Tax, rider premium, late fee and underwriting extra premium should not be included in the basic or tabular premium used by the calculator. Rider benefits should be added only when the rider was selected and active on the date of the event.

An accidental-death amount is not an automatic benefit under every Jeevan Shree policy. It is payable only under an eligible accident benefit or rider and according to its conditions.

For a matured policy, the calculator may estimate the amount using confirmed additions. For a policy that has not matured, an assumed future bonus or Loyalty Addition cannot show the final payable amount.
