LIC Jeevan Arogya Plan 903 Calculator showing Hospital Cash, ICU, surgery and day care fixed benefits for existing policyholders

LIC Jeevan Arogya Plan 903 is a withdrawn health insurance plan from Life Insurance Corporation of India. The LIC Jeevan Arogya Plan 903 Calculator helps existing policyholders estimate Hospital Cash, surgery, day care and other eligible benefits.

Plan 903 was issued under UIN 512N266V01. According to IRDAI records, this version was open from 23 May 2011 to 11 October 2013. Later versions were issued as Plan 904, so Plan 904 details should not be used for a Plan 903 policy.

What Is the LIC Jeevan Arogya Plan 903 Calculator?

This calculator is mainly for people who already hold Plan 903. Unlike regular mediclaim, this policy does not mainly repay the actual hospital bill. It pays fixed benefits according to the Applicable Daily Benefit, type of hospital stay, surgery category and policy limits.

It can calculate the Applicable Daily Benefit and estimate normal ward, ICU, major surgery, day care, other surgery and ambulance benefits.

It may also show an indicative premium if official premium data is available. The policy schedule or latest LIC premium notice should be used for the actual premium.

Formula Used in the Calculator

LIC Jeevan Arogya Plan 903 benefit formulas showing Applicable Daily Benefit, hospital cash, ICU, major surgery, day care and other surgery calculations

Applicable Daily Benefit

In the first policy year, the Applicable Daily Benefit is equal to the Initial Daily Benefit. From the second policy year, it increases by 5% of the Initial Daily Benefit every year. This normal increase stops when it reaches 1.5 times the Initial Daily Benefit.

Yearly Increase = Initial Daily Benefit x 5%

Applicable Daily Benefit =
Initial Daily Benefit + Yearly Increases + Eligible No Claim Benefit

The No Claim Benefit is another 5% of the Initial Daily Benefit after an eligible three-year claim-free renewal block. It applies only when no claim was made for any insured member during that block. The normal 1.5-times limit does not apply to the No Claim Benefit part.

Hospital Cash Benefit

Normal Ward Benefit = Applicable Daily Benefit x Payable Ward Days

ICU Benefit = Applicable Daily Benefit x 2 x Payable ICU Days

For a hospital stay of less than seven continuous days, the first 24 hours are not payable. If the stay continues for seven days or more, the first 24 hours also become payable.

Major Surgical Benefit

Major Surgical Benefit Sum Assured = Applicable Daily Benefit x 100

Major Surgical Benefit =
Major Surgical Benefit Sum Assured x Category Percentage
Surgery categoryBenefit percentage
Category 1100%
Category 260%
Category 340%
Category 420%

Day Care Procedure Benefit

Day Care Procedure Benefit = Applicable Daily Benefit x 5

Hospital Cash Benefit is not paid for the same listed day care procedure.

Other Surgical Benefit

Other Surgical Benefit =
Applicable Daily Benefit x 2 x Payable Hospital Days

This benefit applies to an eligible surgery that is not listed under Major Surgical Benefit or Day Care Procedure Benefit and requires hospitalisation of more than 24 hours.

Benefits Calculated by the Calculator

Hospital Cash and ICU Benefit

Normal ward stay pays one Applicable Daily Benefit for each payable day. ICU stay pays twice this amount. When a 24-hour period includes both stays, ICU benefit may apply if the ICU stay lasted at least four continuous hours.

Major Surgery, Ambulance and Premium Waiver

Plan 903 lists 140 major surgeries. The benefit depends on the surgery category, not the hospital bill. For an eligible Category 1 or Category 2 surgery, LIC may also pay ₹1,000 for ambulance expense and waive one annualised policy premium.

Day Care and Other Surgery

A listed day care procedure pays five times the Applicable Daily Benefit. An eligible surgery outside the Major Surgery and Day Care lists may pay twice the Applicable Daily Benefit for each payable hospital day.

Benefit Limits Used in the Calculator

BenefitFirst policy yearLater policy yearsLifetime limit
Hospital Cash Benefit30 days90 days per year720 days
ICU days included above15 days45 days per year360 days
Other Surgical Benefit15 days45 days per year360 days
Day Care Procedures3 procedures3 procedures per year24 procedures

Major Surgical Benefit is limited to 100% of the applicable Major Surgical Benefit Sum Assured in one policy year and 800% during the full cover period. The same major surgery cannot be claimed more than once. These limits apply separately to each insured member.

Real Calculation Example

LIC Jeevan Arogya Plan 903 worked claim example showing Applicable Daily Benefit, hospital cash, Category 2 surgery and estimated total benefit of ₹1,66,000

Assume the following details:

  • Initial Daily Benefit: ₹2,000
  • Policy year: 6
  • Eligible No Claim Benefit blocks: 0
  • Normal ward stay: 5 days
  • ICU stay: 1 day
  • Major surgery: Category 2
  • Eligible ambulance expense: Yes

Five policy anniversaries have passed by policy year 6.

Yearly Increase = ₹2,000 x 5% = ₹100

Increase for 5 completed years = ₹100 x 5 = ₹500

Applicable Daily Benefit = ₹2,000 + ₹500 = ₹2,500

The total hospital stay is six days, so the first 24 hours are not payable. For this example, the first 24 hours are treated as a normal-ward day. This leaves four payable ward days and one payable ICU day.

Normal Ward Benefit = ₹2,500 x 4 = ₹10,000

ICU Benefit = ₹2,500 x 2 x 1 = ₹5,000

Total Hospital Cash Benefit = ₹15,000

For Category 2 surgery:

Major Surgical Benefit Sum Assured = ₹2,500 x 100 = ₹2,50,000

Category 2 Benefit = ₹2,50,000 x 60% = ₹1,50,000

After adding the eligible ambulance benefit:

Hospital Cash Benefit = ₹15,000
Major Surgical Benefit = ₹1,50,000
Ambulance Benefit = ₹1,000
Estimated Total Benefit = ₹1,66,000

The first non-payable day can change with the actual hospital timings. Claim eligibility and remaining limits also affect the final amount.

Waiting Period and Claim Conditions

LIC Jeevan Arogya Plan 903 benefit limits and claim conditions showing hospital days, ICU days, day care limits and waiting periods

There is no general waiting period when hospitalisation or surgery is caused by an accidental bodily injury. A sickness claim normally has a 90-day waiting period from the start of cover. Listed treatments, including cataract, hernia, piles, gallbladder stones and kidney stones, generally have a two-year waiting period.

Benefits are payable only for eligible treatment received in India and subject to the policy exclusions. Claim notice should normally be given to LIC within 30 days from discharge, along with the required medical and hospital records.

Important Calculator Limitations

The calculator cannot approve a claim. Its result may differ from LIC’s amount because it may not know:

  • the exact cover and exclusions shown in the policy schedule;
  • previous claims and remaining benefit limits;
  • actual admission, discharge and ICU timings;
  • policy lapse or revival history;
  • whether the surgery or procedure appears in the official list; and
  • whether waiting-period and claim conditions have been met.

There is no maturity benefit, surrender value or loan under Plan 903. The basic plan also has no death benefit. A death benefit is available only when an eligible rider was already included in the policy.

Conclusion

The LIC Jeevan Arogya Plan 903 Calculator helps existing policyholders estimate fixed benefits for hospitalisation, ICU stay, major surgery, day care procedures and other surgery. It also explains how the Applicable Daily Benefit grows and how annual and lifetime limits affect the result.

The calculator is useful for understanding a possible claim amount, but it cannot replace LIC’s claim assessment. The policy schedule, official Plan 903 document and LIC records decide the final benefit.
