Important: This is an educational estimate, not an LIC quotation or claim decision. Diagnosis, medical definitions, exclusions, waiting period, survival period, underwriting and supporting documents determine actual eligibility. Taxes and base-plan modal loadings/rebates are not included.
LIC Female Critical Illness Benefit Rider Calculator showing three benefit modules, aggregate limit and an illustrative ₹5 lakh benefit.

Serious illnesses can create costs beyond hospital bills. Treatment, medicines, follow-up care, travel, reduced income and changes in daily living can place financial pressure on the entire family. LIC’s Female Critical Illness Benefit Rider adds fixed-benefit protection to an eligible base policy purchased by a female policyholder. The calculator estimates module cover, aggregate limits, possible lump-sum payouts and timing conditions.

The calculator is an educational illustration based on LIC’s published terms. It cannot confirm claim eligibility. Final benefits depend on the issued policy, medical evidence, covered medical definitions, exclusions and LIC’s assessment.

The LIC Female Critical Illness Benefit Rider Calculator estimates module-wise benefit capacity, claim illustrations, aggregate cover limits, waiting periods and sample premiums for UIN 512B226V01. It is an educational planning tool and not an official LIC quotation or claim decision.

What Is the LIC Female Critical Illness Benefit Rider Calculator?

The LIC Female Critical Illness Benefit Rider Calculator is an estimation tool for LIC’s Female Critical Illness Benefit Rider, UIN 512B226V01. This Individual, Non-Linked, Health Rider can be attached at the inception of an eligible non-linked base policy. It is not a standalone health insurance plan.

Module 1 covers specified early-stage cancer, carcinoma-in-situ and major-stage cancer. Module 2 covers listed minor and major surgeries or illnesses. Module 3 covers listed pregnancy complications and congenital anomalies. One or more modules may be selected, subject to the applicable limits.

After entering the base-policy and rider details, the calculator checks the selected cover against the stated limits. It displays benefit capacity, the allowed aggregate limit, module-wise claim illustrations, timing checks and an annual premium illustration where LIC has published a matching sample rate.

The tool does not estimate reimbursement of actual treatment expenses. Instead, it calculates the fixed lump-sum amount that may become payable for a covered event. The actual amount spent on hospital treatment does not determine the rider benefit.

Highlights of the Calculator

The LIC Female Critical Illness Benefit Rider Calculator simplifies the product’s module-wise rules and helps avoid confusion between Module Sum Assured, benefit capacity and claim payout.

Three-module selection: Select one, two or all three modules and enter separate cover details for each selected module.

Automatic benefit calculation: Maximum benefit capacity is 100% of the Sum Assured for Modules 1 and 2 and 200% for Module 3.

Aggregate-limit check: The selected benefit is compared with 50% of the base policy’s Sum Assured on Death, the overall ₹5,00,000 ceiling and any existing cover under the same rider.

Separate claim illustrations: Every selected module receives a separate Claim Event selector so that its benefit can be calculated independently.

Previous-claim adjustment: An earlier 20% claim under Module 1 or Module 2 can be considered while estimating the amount remaining for a subsequent major claim.

Timing checks: The results consider the waiting and survival periods applicable to the selected module.

Sample premium estimate: An annual premium illustration appears only when the entered age, cover period and premium type match a rate available in LIC’s published sample table.

Reset option: The Reset button restores the default values and returns the calculator to its initial Module 1 selection.

What Is LIC Female Critical Illness Benefit Rider?

LIC’s Female Critical Illness Benefit Rider provides an additional fixed benefit when a covered female Life Assured is diagnosed with a specified illness, undergoes a listed surgery or experiences another covered event.

The rider can only be attached to an eligible non-linked LIC base policy at inception. The continued availability of its protection depends on the status of the base policy. It is not a comprehensive hospitalisation policy and does not reimburse every medical expense.

Benefits Covered Under Each Module

The policyholder may select any one module or an eligible combination of modules at inception. Each selected module has its own Sum Assured, cover period, premium and claim rules.

Three modules covering cancer, women’s surgeries and illnesses, pregnancy complications and congenital conditions

Module 1: Cancer Cover

Module 1 covers specified Early Stage Cancer, Carcinoma-in-situ and Major Stage Cancer.

The first accepted Early Stage Cancer or Carcinoma-in-situ claim pays 20% of the Module 1 Sum Assured. A later accepted Major Stage Cancer claim can pay the remaining 80%.

If Major Stage Cancer is the first accepted claim, 100% of the Module 1 Sum Assured becomes payable. No further Module 1 benefit remains after its entire Sum Assured has been exhausted.

There can be a maximum of one accepted early-stage or carcinoma-in-situ claim and one accepted major-stage claim, subject to the policy conditions.

Module 2: Common Surgeries and Illnesses in Women

Module 2 follows a similar benefit structure. A listed minor surgery or illness can pay 20% of the Module 2 Sum Assured.

A listed major surgery or illness can pay 100% of the Module 2 Sum Assured, less any minor benefit already paid. If an accepted major surgery or illness is the first claim, the complete Module 2 Sum Assured becomes payable and no further benefit remains under that module.

The illness, surgery or medical condition must meet the definition given in the rider document. A procedure performed only for cosmetic purposes does not automatically qualify.

Module 3: Pregnancy Complications and Congenital Anomalies

Module 3 includes two connected benefit categories:

  • Pregnancy Complications Benefit
  • Congenital Anomalies Benefit

The categories are part of the same module and cannot be selected as independent modules. Each category can pay 100% of the Module 3 Sum Assured. The maximum cumulative benefit under Module 3 is therefore 200% of its Sum Assured.

For example, if the Module 3 Sum Assured is ₹1,00,000, one accepted pregnancy-complication claim can pay ₹1,00,000, and one separate accepted congenital-anomaly claim can pay another ₹1,00,000.

A covered congenital anomaly must manifest within three years of childbirth for the benefit to become payable. Each claim remains subject to its medical definition, exclusions and supporting evidence.

Important Eligibility and Cover Limits

Entry-age requirements, module Sum Assured limits and ₹5 lakh aggregate ceiling for the Female Critical Illness Benefit Rider

The minimum entry age is 18 completed years for all three modules. The maximum entry age is 65 years for Modules 1 and 2 and 40 years for Module 3.

Cover may continue up to age 75 for Modules 1 and 2 and age 45 for Module 3.

LIC generally considers age nearer birthday when checking entry-age limits. The minimum entry age is an exception and requires 18 completed years.

The minimum Module Sum Assured is ₹1,00,000 for each selected module. The maximum amounts are:

  • Module 1 Sum Assured: ₹4,00,000
  • Module 2 Sum Assured: ₹4,00,000
  • Module 3 Sum Assured: ₹2,00,000

The maximum benefit capacity is 100% of the Sum Assured for Modules 1 and 2 and 200% for Module 3. Therefore, Module 3 can provide a maximum cumulative benefit of ₹4,00,000 on a Sum Assured of ₹2,00,000.

The total Critical Illness Benefit cannot exceed the lower of:

  • 50% of the base policy’s Sum Assured on Death; or
  • ₹5,00,000.

Existing cover under this rider is also counted towards the applicable aggregate limit. The final permitted cover remains subject to LIC’s underwriting policy.

For regular-premium policies, the minimum cover period is five years. For limited-premium policies, it is ten years.

The maximum cover period for Modules 1 and 2 is the lowest of:

  • 75 minus the entry age;
  • the policy term under the base plan; or
  • 35 years.

The maximum cover period for Module 3 is the lower of:

  • 45 minus the entry age; or
  • the policy term under the base plan.

The rider’s cover period and premium-paying term must also comply with the base policy’s conditions. Under a regular-premium policy, the premium-paying term ranges from five years up to the selected module’s cover period. Under a limited-premium policy, it must be at least five years and cannot exceed one year less than the selected module’s cover period.

How to Use the LIC Female Critical Illness Benefit Rider Calculator

Six steps for entering policy details, selecting benefit modules and calculating illustrative rider benefits

Enter the entry age and the Sum Assured on Death under the base policy. Then provide the policy term, premium type, premium-paying term and premium-payment mode.

Enter any existing benefit already held under LIC’s Female Critical Illness Benefit Rider. This information is needed because existing cover counts towards the aggregate limit.

Open Select Modules and Cover. Choose one, two or all three modules and enter the required Sum Assured and cover period for each selection. The calculator checks whether the entered cover stays within the module-specific limits.

Next, open Claim Illustration Details. A separate Claim Event section appears for every selected module. Select the applicable event for each module.

Enter the number of days since the commencement of risk or latest revival and the number of days survived after the covered event. Select the accident option only when the covered condition arose directly from an accident and the selected event can qualify under the rider’s accident-related exception. LIC will require satisfactory supporting evidence, and selecting this option does not confirm claim eligibility.

Press Calculate Benefits to view:

  • Selected module cover
  • Maximum benefit capacity
  • Aggregate limit
  • Module-wise illustrative payout
  • Remaining module benefit
  • Waiting-period status
  • Survival-period status
  • Available sample premium estimate

Use Reset to clear the entered information and restore the calculator’s default values.

Real Calculation Example

Consider a 20-year-old woman with an eligible base policy carrying a Sum Assured on Death of ₹10,00,000. The base policy has a 10-year term with regular premiums. There is no existing benefit under this rider.

The following module covers are selected:

Selected moduleSum Assured
Module 1₹2,00,000
Module 2₹1,00,000
Module 3₹1,00,000

The total benefit capacity is:

₹2,00,000 + ₹1,00,000 + (2 × ₹1,00,000) = ₹5,00,000

Module 3 is multiplied by two because its Pregnancy Complications and Congenital Anomalies categories can each provide 100% of the Module 3 Sum Assured.

Half of the base policy’s Sum Assured on Death is:

50% × ₹10,00,000 = ₹5,00,000

The overall rider ceiling is also ₹5,00,000. Therefore, this combination fits the illustrated aggregate limit, subject to LIC’s underwriting decision.

Now select Early Stage Cancer under Module 1, Minor Surgery or Illness under Module 2 and Pregnancy Complication under Module 3.

The individual illustrative payouts are:

Module 1: 20% × ₹2,00,000 = ₹40,000

Module 2: 20% × ₹1,00,000 = ₹20,000

Module 3: 100% × ₹1,00,000 = ₹1,00,000

If all three separately illustrated events were independently admitted under their respective modules, their combined illustrative value would be:

₹40,000 + ₹20,000 + ₹1,00,000 = ₹1,60,000

Illustrative calculation showing ₹1.60 lakh in separately estimated payouts across three rider modules

This is not an illustration of one medical event automatically producing three benefits. Each separate event must independently satisfy its medical definition, waiting period, survival period, policy-status requirements and exclusions. Multiple claims are not automatically admitted together.

Sample Premium Illustration

For age 20 and a 10-year regular-premium cover, LIC’s published sample annual rates per ₹1,00,000 are:

ModuleSample rateSelected coverPremium illustration
Module 1₹72₹2,00,000₹144
Module 2₹68₹1,00,000₹68
Module 3₹633₹1,00,000₹633
Total₹845 per year

The illustrated premium excludes applicable taxes. The actual premium may differ because of underwriting, payment-mode adjustments, taxes and other policy-specific factors.

The calculator should show a premium estimate only when the entered details match an example rate published by LIC. It should not manufacture or extrapolate an official rate for an unmatched age or term.

Waiting Period and Survival Period

Modules 1 and 2 normally have a waiting period of 180 days from the commencement of risk or latest revival, whichever is applicable. Module 3 has a waiting period of 270 days.

The waiting period does not apply to a covered condition arising directly from an accident, subject to the rider conditions and satisfactory evidence.

Comparison of waiting and survival periods applicable to the three Female Critical Illness Benefit Rider modules

If a covered contingency occurs before the applicable waiting period expires, no benefit is payable, and the affected module terminates. This is subject to the accident-related exception and the complete rider conditions.

The required survival periods are:

ModuleWaiting periodSurvival period
Module 1180 days7 days
Module 2180 days30 days
Module 3270 days30 days

If death occurs within the applicable survival period, no rider benefit becomes payable for that event. Completing the waiting and survival periods does not by itself guarantee a claim. The event must also satisfy the covered medical definition and all other policy conditions.

Other Important Rider Rules

No death or maturity benefit is payable under this rider. The rider does not acquire a paid-up value, provide a policy loan or offer a surrender value.

However, an Unexpired Risk Premium Value may be refunded under an eligible limited-premium policy when the in-force base policy is surrendered, subject to LIC’s premium-payment and other applicable conditions. Nothing is refunded under a regular-premium policy. This conditional refund should not be described as a surrender value.

The rider premium must be paid with the base-policy premium and cannot be paid separately. If the base policy lapses, is surrendered or becomes paid-up, the rider protection also ceases in accordance with the applicable terms.

A selected module may be terminated during the premium-paying term. The termination becomes effective from the next policy anniversary. Once terminated, the same module cannot be selected again during the remaining rider term.

When the entire Sum Assured under a module has been exhausted through accepted claims, premiums for that module are not charged from the next policy anniversary.

Medical evidence may include diagnostic reports, hospital records, surgery documents, test results and a specialist’s certificate. LIC may request additional documents according to the nature of the claim. A diagnosis must be confirmed in the manner prescribed in the official rider terms.

Calculator Result and Actual LIC Claim

The calculator applies the published benefit percentages and limits to the information entered. It cannot:

  • Examine medical reports
  • Confirm that a condition meets LIC’s medical definition
  • Verify policy disclosures
  • Determine whether an exclusion applies
  • Confirm the status of the base policy
  • Approve or reject a claim

The issued policy schedule identifies the modules actually selected, their Sum Assured, premium, commencement date and expiry date. These details, together with the rider document and LIC’s formal assessment, determine the actual benefit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is LIC’s Female Critical Illness Benefit Rider available as a standalone policy?

No. It is an add-on rider that may be attached at inception to an eligible non-linked LIC base policy purchased by a female policyholder. It cannot be purchased as an independent health insurance policy.

Can all three modules be selected?

Yes. Any one, two or all three modules may be selected at inception, subject to the module-specific eligibility rules, Sum Assured limits, overall benefit ceiling and LIC’s underwriting decision.

What is the maximum total benefit under the rider?

The Total LIC’s Female Critical Illness Benefit cannot exceed the lower of 50% of the base policy’s Sum Assured on Death or ₹5,00,000. Existing cover held under the same rider is also considered for the aggregate limit.

Does the rider reimburse hospital bills?

No. It provides a fixed lump-sum benefit for an admitted covered event. The payment is based on the selected module and its Sum Assured, not on the actual hospital expenses.

What happens if a covered event occurs during the waiting period?

No benefit is payable and the affected module terminates if a covered contingency occurs before the waiting period ends. The waiting period does not apply to a condition arising directly from an accident, subject to the rider terms and LIC’s acceptance of the evidence.

Can a terminated module be selected again?

No. A module voluntarily terminated during the premium-paying term cannot be selected again during the remaining rider term. A module also terminates after its maximum available benefit has been exhausted through admitted claims.

Does the rider provide death or maturity benefits?

No separate death or maturity benefit is payable under this rider. Benefits under the attached base policy continue to be governed by that policy’s terms.

Is the premium shown by the calculator an official LIC quotation?

No. The calculator should display a premium illustration only when the entered age, cover period and premium type match a rate in LIC’s published sample table. Actual premiums depend on underwriting, the issued policy, payment mode, taxes and other applicable factors.

Conclusion

The LIC Female Critical Illness Benefit Rider Calculator simplifies the rider’s multiple cover choices and connected limits. It helps compare modules, test Sum Assured combinations, estimate possible lump-sum benefits and check the sample waiting and survival requirements.

The LIC Female Critical Illness Benefit Rider provides fixed-benefit protection rather than reimbursement of actual hospital expenses. The calculated benefits and sample premiums are planning estimates only. LIC’s issued policy document, underwriting decision, medical definitions and formal claim assessment remain final.
